Violation of Doping Rules; Four more weightlifters suspended, federation likely to be banned
LAHORE: Four more Pakistani weightlifters have been suspended for violating doping rules, while a ban on the federation is also likely.
After Talha Talib and Abu Bakar, four more Pakistani weightlifters were suspended. After a total of six weightlifters were reported to have violated anti-doping laws, the federation, along with the weightlifters, was in danger of being banned.
Three weightlifters selected for the Commonwealth Games are also facing suspension. On May 1, the executive board of the International Weightlifting Federation may decide to ban the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation.
According to the website of the International Weightlifting Federation, Muhammad Sharjeel Butt, Ghulam Mustafa, Abdul Rehman and Farhan Amjad have been barred from participating in all activities.
According to the International Testing Agency, six Pakistani weightlifters have been temporarily suspended.
