Train crash kills 36 in Taiwan
The incident took place in eastern Taiwan on Friday, according to the French news agency AFP. Railway police say 36 people have been confirmed dead so far. According to the statement, 72 people are still trapped in the crashed train.
Authorities say the train was passing through the tunnel at the time of the crash. As soon as the incident was reported by the Taiwanese president, emergency orders were issued in the hospitals. “Our first priority is to rescue those trapped,” he said in a statement.
