The company will now also tax YouTube users
California: US online video sharing platform YouTube has decided that it will now collect taxes from YouTube users, but this does not include YouTube users belonging to the United States.
YouTube, a subsidiary of Google, the Internet’s largest search engine, has decided to tax non-US YouTubers.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, YouTube has informed YouTubers via email that this new tax policy will be applicable from June 2021.
The YouTube administration has asked creators to update their tax details in AdSense to determine the exact amount of tax deductions.
According to the report, the change will apply to YouTubers living in the United States as well as YouTubers around the world.
A statement from YouTube stated that “Google is responsible for collecting tax information under US law.”
Google has warned that if a creator does not provide information by May 31, 24% of its revenue will be deducted.
