In the UAE, searching for a husband’s mobile phone cost his wife dearly.
A resident of the Gulf country had filed a case against his Arab wife in which the plaintiff’s husband accused his wife of searching his personal mobile phone.
A court in the UAE state of Ras Al Khaimah found the wife guilty and fined her and ordered her to pay a fine of 5,000 dirhams to her husband.
The court also ordered the accused wife to pay court proceedings and lawyers’ expenses.
According to the prosecutor general, the wife used the messages, photos and videos in the phone to defame her husband. The wife sent the messages, photos and videos from her husband’s mobile phone to her family.
The prosecutor general said that the accused wife was found guilty under the Cyber Crimes Act while the action of the accused wife caused moral, social and financial damage to the husband’s reputation.
