Saudi officials make big announcement to improve internet service
Riyadh: Saudi officials have launched a new project called Game Mode to test companies for ensuring the best internet service.
The initiative has been taken by Communication and Information Technology to test the performance of internet service providers in the state by telling consumers which company is providing better internet.
The Communications and Information Technology Commission says the move will further improve the competitive environment between Internet service providers.
According to media reports, the companies that perform better under the game mode will be awarded on a quarterly basis.
In addition, the Communications and Information Technology Commission will release quarterly comparison reports of response time from various internet service providers during the most played online games in the country.
According to Arab News, the current value of Saudi Arabia’s gaming market is two billion riyals, which will reach two and a half billion dollars by 2030.
