Saudi Arabia: The law is tightened around employees with fake degrees
Riyadh: Saudi Engineers Council has seized fake degrees of 725 employees working in the kingdom.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, 725 fake engineering degrees were seized in Saudi Arabia during the year 2020. The said employees were working in the relevant field.
The Saudi Engineers’ Council says there have been more than 2,000 degree violations in the kingdom, including 725 counterfeit, with 2,614 engineering consultancies and offices spread across 13 parts of the country. Employees with fake degrees were caught.
The highest number of engineering consultancies in Saudi Arabia is 934 in the Riyadh region. Last year, the number of Saudi engineers registered with the council was 13,465. As far as engineering companies are concerned, 297 are doing business in Saudi Arabia. About one lakh foreign engineers are registered in the country.
It may be recalled that violations of fake degrees have come to light during investigations in various departments, institutions and companies, while council inspectors conducted 147 raids.
