Rahul Gandhi exposed India’s hollow democracy
New Delhi: The leader of India’s second largest party, the Congress, has exposed his country’s hollow democracy and admitted that India is no longer a democratic country.
Citing a survey report released by international NGOs like Freedom House and V Democracy, the Congress leader admitted that there was no such thing as democracy in India.
It should be noted that a report on democracy was recently released by the American organization Freedom House. In which it was said that India has now become a dictatorial country from where democracy ended. In this report, India was declared as a worse country than Bangladesh. The Swedish NGO V Democracy also expressed concern over the state of democracy in India. In the report, the organization wrote that “India has now been included in the list of countries with electoral dictatorships.”
The report states that the Indian government has restricted freedom of expression and genuine journalism, while defamation and sedition laws are being used against innocents and political opponents.
