A submarine full of 53 Indonesian Navy personnel has mysteriously disappeared
Jakarta: A Navy submarine went missing near the Indonesian island of Bali, which could not be traced for several hours.
The missing submarine had 53 Navy personnel on its way from Bali for a training exercise, the news agency reported.
A spokesman for the Indonesian navy said the German-built submarine was taking part in a torpedo exercise off the coast of the island of Bali when it suddenly disappeared.
According to the spokesman, after failing to find the submarine, it has decided to seek help from Singapore and Australia. A Navy spokesman said two Navy ships had been dispatched to the spot where the submarine’s last location appeared.
“We have started the search for the submarine on a large scale, hopefully with success,” the defense ministry said.
